Safe Haven Humane Society

Re-Home the Homeless Pets of Jo Daviess County and the Tri-State Area

Safe Haven is a county wide Humane Society supported entirely by community donations and dedicated volunteers. We place no time limit on the length of stay once a cat or dog has been accepted into our adoption program.

We believe that together we can make a difference in the lives of adoptable stray, unwanted, abused companion animals and the people who open their hearts and homes to them.

Featured Pet

This girl is Narnia and Narnia has been with us since the end of December. She apperas to be a Black Mouth Cur and Pit Bull Terrier mix. She is approximately 2 years old - loves people, but does not get along with other dogs and cats.

Black Mouth Cur traits are: committed, affectionate, dependable, kind-hearted, protective.

Pit Bull Terrier traits are: highly affectionate toward people, even strangers and loves physical affection and attention, confident and not anxious (calm, cool, and collected), balanaced, emotionally stable, eager to please.

Narnia has most of these traits. She loves obedience training and having a job to do would make her very happy. She definitely has a hound dog nose and would make a great hunter. She is a powerful dog and we are working on her obedience training. She would love to find her forever home. If you need a protective, affectionate and loving companion and you don't have other cats and dogs in your home, you should definitely come in and check out Narnia. It's definitely her time to find a home. Please share this information with anyone you know that might be looking for this girl as a companion.
